BE YOUR BEST EVERYDAY

Let’s bring to light your uniqueness

Does this sound familiar? When you look in the mirror are you unsure of who you are or feel displeased with who you see looking back at you? If you find this to be the case, you are not alone. At some point or another, we can find ourselves feeling unsure of who we are, or our place in the world. You may wonder why you keep making choices that leave you feeling critical of yourself. You may see yourself through the eyes of others that have told you that you were incapable or incompetent, and are now afraid to try anything unfamiliar. You may struggle to make decisions and allow others to lead far too often. You may find it hard to express yourself in a way that feels effective. We are here to help you unlearn negative thoughts pattern and let go of behavior, not in alignment with your true desires.

FEELING BETTER THROUGH SELF-DISCOVERY

Core Identity Counseling will empower you

Through counseling, we explore your self-esteem, values, and current style(s) of communication. By focusing on these three areas, we help you to identify who you have been, who you are now, and who you want to become. We seek to bridge the gaps between these spaces.

PERSONALIZED ANALYSIS OF YOUR SELF-ESTEEM

We look at how you see yourself and how this view influences your interactions with others. This may include exploring patterns from childhood, adolescence, and adulthood.

UNCOVER YOUR REAL VALUES

As we explore values, you increase your awareness of what is important to you. You will be able to determine if your behaviors match your values. We will look at how you currently communicate with others, and how you would like to communicate with others.

LEARN TO ADVOCATE FOR YOURSELF

You will learn to hold yourself in higher regard. As a result, you will put yourself first, and learn it is okay to say “no”. Your increased awareness provides opportunities to engage with others differently, and the ability to recognize when a mental filter is leading you to make inaccurate inferences.

OUR APPROACH TO HELP YOU

Core Identity Counseling will help you feel confident in your identity.

When working with themes related to core identity, we utilize an integrative approach. Narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and psychodynamic therapy are comingled for a personalized approach. Psychoeducation is provided to build context as you gain more understanding of yourself. By blending these approaches together, you come to understand how you developed your sense of self and how you can move in a space of authenticity and congruency with who you want to be rather than who you were before therapy.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

You have questions, we have answers

  • Narrative therapy is an approach grounded in being respectful and non-blaming. It allows us to look at the stories of your experience and how you relate to the world. Utilizing these stories we partner to create new stories, focusing on your strengths.

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy is an approach that looks at thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. We identify how thoughts (and beliefs) impact how you feel and behave and impact to how you see yourself; often creating a maladaptive cycle.

  • Utilizing a psychodynamic approach, we look at the early life experiences and how these experiences established patterns of how you see yourself or the values that you hold. Through this integrative approach, we help you see yourself with a wider lens; one where you do not exist in a vacuum of “should”.
